"A people passionate about reconstructing communities"

Interview with Venise Smith who nominated Impact Direct as the local hero of the month in Cape Town. This is an initiative managed by one of the large South African banks, Nedbank, and Impact Direct won the award for local hero of the month of October. Here Venise tells us why she believes that Impact Direct is a local hero.

Yesterday we had the privilege of hosting Morning Live at the Impact Centre and what an awesome time it was because Jesus Christ was lifted up throughout the broadcast. The show started with Brent Williams sharing his testimony of how Jesus has set him free from drug addiction. The lovely posters that was on display also got lots of attention and know that 8 - 10 million people heard Jesus being proclaimed as Lord.

Apostle Roger Petersen was also interviewed telling Vuyo and the rest if the South Africa the impact drugs and substance abuse have on families. During his interview when asked if Impact Direct can help people with substance abuse problems? He answered calmy “We tell every person who walks into the Impact Centre that we cant help you”. This response got Vuyo’s attention and I’m sure many people thought what is he saying. But then he told Vuyo and the viewers that only God can help a drug addict. No person, institution, rehab can get a drug addict totally free but Jesus. Definitely a response that will have many people talking accross our nation but its the truth as we see the testimonies daily at the Impact Centre.

Towards the end of the programme Marlon had an opportunity to display the Drug Advice and Support on MXit (DAS@MXit) service which got an overwhelming response of more than 2000 contacts joining the service. The show was closed with testimonies from Clinton, Craig, Monique, Kyle and Brent sharing Jesus Christ with the masses. I’m sure this was a Morning Live show like no other. Jesus was proclaimed at the start of the show and it ended with Jesus being lifted up!!!

I believe that Morning Live and the rest of South Africa has been impacted by the Power of the Holy Spirit that was released over live television.

This morning we having the privilege hosting the cast and crew of the SABC 2 Morning Live show. Many of our volunteers were at the Impact Centre before 4am this morning preparing it for the many guests that will be joining us. Not only are we hosting the SABC crew but the Premier of the Western Cape, Lynne Brown, Deputy Ministrer of Social Development, Dr Jean Swanson-Jacobs and Patrick Mckenzie, Provincial minister of Community Safety.

There is a buzz in the air as Brent Williams, one of our young men who has been reconstructed from drugs and gangs, are opeing the Morning Live show sharing his testimony of how Jesus set him free. Pastor Roger Petersen will also be interviewed by Vuyo and Marlon Parker will demonstrate the use of MXit for substance abuse counselling. We will upload photos and clips soon about this exciting morning and we give the Lord all the praise and honour for this great opportunity to showcase Jesus to almost 10 million viewers.

Welcome to our new blog! We’ll be updating this on a regular basis, so keep posted.
